Here
are samples of the sessions that will be offered at the 2009 conference….
What
Now? Easy and Effective Ways for Teachers to Use MAP Data in Everyday Teaching
This session will present easy and effective tools, strategies and ideas for taking
literacy MAP Data and incorporating it into everyday teaching and planning.
Participants will walk away with simple, direct, and "ready to use"
ways to improve, build upon and differentiate for reading and literacy
instruction by using the MAP Data. These "easy - to - implement" ideas
called, "Making Awesome Progress" have proven to be incredibly
effective in the classroom - without overwhelming teachers.
The
Effects of True Co-Teaching on Academic Growth
This session will look at several approaches to instruction delivery that have been
implemented in a district. Specifically, the use of a 3 Tier delivery and RTI
in Literacy and also an inclusionary practice of clustering special education student
population in co-teaching classrooms during common literacy blocks in grades 3
through 6. This session will report on how the practice may be affecting data
out comes in EOY NWEA annual growth reports. An overview of the 6 models of
true co-teaching will be presented also.
Managing
Lower Achieving Students (LAS) for Success Using MAP and State Data
This session will describe a process that used MAP and state test data to: 1) help
students reach proficiency on state tests that never had done so previously; 2)
help students test for success and not failure; and 3) set-up a 3-4 year plan
for those LAS not in the previous two groups.
Breaking
Ranks in the Middle: A Practical Approach
This session will offer a practical approach to implementing Breaking Ranks in the Middle:
Strategies for Leading Middle Level Reform. The presenter will share how New
London-Spicer Middle School Leadership used suggested recommendations and
cornerstones to bring about school change. Included in the presentation will be
research-based strategies which effect instruction, assessment, and environment.
Data-Driven
Instruction: Meeting the Needs of All Learners
This session will focus on the 10 year journey that Chilton School District has
experienced since implementing MAP testing. The school improvement model we
utilize will be explained; our district mission, vision, values and goals will
be displayed; the development of our student success model will be explained;
and our successes and pitfalls along the way will be shared. Come and join me
as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary with MAP testing!
Moving
Data to the Classroom Level
This session will focus on providing a Data-Driven Instructional framework for
school districts to utilize during a data-driven initiative. Professional
educators will be provided with some examples of tiered lesson plans from
elementary, middle, and high school classrooms that have utilized MAP data to
drive instruction for all students.
Data-Driven
Staff Development Focused on Students
This session will look at how staff development can be driven more by what the
students need from their teachers rather than by what teachers think they need
for themselves. Learn how student achievement data is used to drive staff
development planning and discuss how your staff development plans fit into the
DDIS (Data-Driven Instructional System) Model providing a framework for school
districts to focus their energy on student learning.
The
Dynamic Data-Driven Decade
Chilton School District; a small, rural Northeastern Wisconsin district; has utilized
MAP testing for 10 years! In the last decade, board policy has changed, the
district's mission and vision have changed, and the definition of student
success has changed. In order to support change at the classroom level, deep
systemic change must occur. Examples of new policies, new frameworks, etc. will
be shared. Come and join me in celebrating Chilton's 10 year data journey!
From
Data to Plan to Differentiation to Achievement
This session will explain a district wide initiative (training, retreats, PLC time,
and other supports) that follows a continuous improvement cycle using MAP data,
which has produced notable gains in proficiency and growth.
Using
Compass and MAP to Meet the Needs of ALL Learners
This session will be designed to show how our school district has used MAP and
Compass Learning Software to further drive individualized instruction at
appropriate levels for all students. We will cover how the MAP data creates
unique learning paths, and how the data can also be used to create other paths
for whole group, small group, and special populations (Ell, Gifted, etc.). We
will also discuss how this fits into our district RTI plan.
Using
the MAP for Data Driven Decisions
This session is designed to give participants a variety of examples of how MAP data
can be used to make decisions at all levels. The focus of the session will be
on what data is available from MAP and how it can be used to show trends from
elementary through high school, and also how it can be used to better evaluate
the effectiveness of programs and curriculum.
Mapping
the Way to Student Learning
This session will share how to use MAP results as a part of the RTI initiative to
create individual student learning plans aligned with the DesCartes Skills
Continuum.
MAP
DesCartes through Kinesthetic Instruction
The session focuses on two aspects: 1) to make MAP DesCartes more manageable by determining
what RIT band conceptual components are critical to teach; 2) to offer
engaging, concrete and kinesthetic methods for introducing and reinforcing
abstract concepts and academic vocabulary. |
